Four Youngsters

Taking a pause from the Maine trip, yesterday's sun finally produced some good photo ops - and the young birds cooperated.

First, two young Blue Jays, one who had feeding himself/herself almost figured out, but still calling in hopes that the free ride would continue - and one begging noisily and impatiently ...

Young male Downy Woodpecker ...

Fledgling Purple Finch ...

Plus ... went to see the Henslow"s Sparrow again ... he was cooperative in singing, but still too far away for any identifiable photo.

Good birding!

Very nice pictures. I did see my first Henslow last Friday. They are very rare around Bluff Country.

I like the Fledgling Purple Finch. Not a bird I get here often in Queens and in fact, picked my first of the backyard this past Winter.
