A Red-winged Blackbird (no photo) returned on time and on schedule this morning - always on the 8th of March, plus or minus a few days. (One was here on the big snow on Feb 24, but he doesn't count.)

Also - male Purple Finch on the feeder throughout the day - welcome back!

Up Augur Hole Road, we saw the beaver about 3pm swimming up his new pond. See previous post for his work on the dam and gnawing on the tree - overnight work was noticeably obvious on both, but no new photos.

And finally ... just because ...

Spring has started to return here also. I love it when the blackbirds return even though they can be a bother.

Well it is nice you are getting part of your spring birds back, but it looks like spring is not there yet... For us, the snow has already melted and we have now rain!!

Hi Chris,

That's amazing how they show up right on schedule. The purple finch is really beautiful, and the apple shot is great.

I saw a couple of birds (maybe chickadees?) in my yard on Saturday, and I was so happy to see them! Even though this winter was mild, it seems like it was still long in some ways.

That's it - I'm having an apple for lunch!

Happy almost spring, Chris!

Chris - beautiful Purple Finch picture. They've been scarce down here this year.

Hope your snow is beginning to melt, like ours!
