The Green Heron is the smallest of the true herons, and to my eye, the most beautiful.

Folk names for the patient stalker include Poke, Fly-up-the-Creek, and Crab-catcher.

Beautiful photos. Green herons can morph into such a variety of shapes; hard to believe that one bird can have so many silhouettes. And their colors can look so different as the light changes. Definitely one of my favorite birds.
