Spring came early to Vermont, which caused everyone to feel as though the migrants should be returning also. Not so ... but they are right on time. Here are three of the favorite early arrivals which I tracked down this morning.
Blue-gray Gnatcatcher ...
Palm Warbler ...
Ruby-crowned Kinglet ...
... also, three reasons why the next three months provide the best birding of the year!
Good birding!

Hi Chris,
These shots are already prmising, so I can imagine what it will be in the three next month. THese birds are gorgeous and your pictures too! Well done!
They are all lovely photos, great birds. I hope to see some new spring arrivals soon!
yea! they're here they're here!! and the wait is almost over...I've seen several blue grays last week, even one building a nest..only one palm and one pine. I'm off to the bird walk tomorrow morn...hoping and hoping more of those "migrants' flew in today!!
Great captures, Chris!!
I was lucky enough to see a blue-gray nutcatcher a few years ago. They are beautiful. Love your photos in this series.
Good news Chris...the birds know when the time is right. That Palm Warbler is colourful..I only ever recall seeing one in its 'autumn' coat..much drabber.
Great photos! I have yet to see a Blue-gray Gnatcatcher. and have had only fleeting looks at Kinglets. I decided I must improve my chances by leaving my dog at home when birding.
