This is definitely an exciting time of the year. Glad you had that house finch visitor..but oh how I would love to have your grosbeaks visit my feeders..never have we seen one in our back yard...Lucky you!!
I haven't seen any house finches at my feeder for a long time. They used to be quite common. I thought their numbers were seriously down due to finch conjunctivitis. I had one bird with the disease at my feeder last year. So it looks like they may be recovering.
I saw some common mergansers by the Green River Covered Bridge in Gilford. It was a real treat because I don't get common mergansers in Gloucester and it was the first time I've seen mergansers on a river.
